The Leadership Series talk marked the conclusion of the Gruppo Eurocar Italia Competition, during which the final two teams presented their rebranding strategy idea after a passionate competition between teams of FT-MBA students.
The Gruppo Eurocar Italia Competition inspired students who participated to imagine a new strategy for the major automotive retail company in Italy. The purpose of the competition was to come up with a re-branding strategy and a concrete roll-out at a national level. The challenge was to imagine a way to rebrand subsidiaries under a unified name and identity, a real issue the company is currently tackling, testing participants with the pressures of a real-life problem.
The competition was supported by two SDA Bocconi clubs: Management and Consulting Club and Ski Club. It kicked off with the Ski Cup Weekend in Cortina in mid-March, where the members of the clubs could meet and network. Seven teams of twenty-one students participated in the competition over the following month, culminating in the showdown between the two top teams at the Leadership Series, where representatives of the General Management of Gruppo Eurocar Italia were present.
The Leadership Series included a talk from Matthias Moser, CEO of Gruppo Eurocar Italia.
“The collaboration with the MBA students at SDA Bocconi School of Management, on the one hand, represents for us the opportunity to work together with a prestigious international Business School, and, on the other hand, a chance to meet talented people, opening new perspectives and sharing innovative visions. Our Group firmly believes that the relationship with the academic community can contribute to the success of a business organization like ours.”
The competition has been a great opportunity of exchange between students of different backgrounds and leaders in a specific industry. Participants tested themselves with a real-life case, applying their studies in a setting outside the classroom. Taking the skills and knowledge learned in class to experiences like this are what complete the SDA Bocconi experience, and partnerships with industry leaders like Eurocar bring expertise and guidance to students.
