Pietro De Giovanni is a Professor of Practice in Operations and Supply Chain Management at SDA Bocconi School of Management.
Prior to his appointment at SDA Bocconi, he held academic positions at Luiss University (Rome, Italy), ESSEC Business School (Paris-Singapore), Vrije Universiteit (VU) Amsterdam (Amsterdam, the Netherlands), and NOVA School of Business and Economics (Lisbon, Portugal), where he was a Professor of Circular Economy, Sustainable Strategies, Operations, and Supply Chain Management. He has also held various academic positions, including Academic Director of the Master in Technology Project Management at ESSEC Business School with Telecom ParisTech, Scientific Coordinator of the Operations Management/Operations Research cluster at ESSEC, Academic Director of the MSc in Strategic Management at Luiss University, and Director of both the MS in Project Management and the Executive Program Flex Supply Chain at Luiss Business School. Additionally, he served as the Associate Dean for Sustainability at the Luiss-X.ITE Research Center. In SDA Bocconi, Pietro is the Director of the program "Life-cycle Assessment as a Sustainability Tool" and co-director of the Sustainable Operations and Supply Chain Monitor.
Pietro's research and teaching interests encompass supply chain and operations management, as well as sustainable strategies and circular economy. He has published several papers in scientific journals, including Journal of Operations Management, European Journal of Operational Research, Transportation Research, Annals of Operations Research, International Journal of Production Economics, Journal of the OR Society, International Journal of Physical Distribution and Logistics Management, Dynamic Games and Applications, Journal of Environmental Management, and International Journal of Operations and Production Management.
Pietro holds a degree in Business Administration from Università della Calabria (UNICAL), a Master in Supply Chain Integrated Management from Università di Verona, a Master Phil in Business Administration from ESSEC Business School, a Doctorate in Business Administration from Università della Calabria (UNICAL), and a Ph.D. in Decision Management Sciences with a concentration in Operations and Supply Chain Management from ESSEC Business School. Currently, he serves as an Associate Editor of the following academic journals: International Transactions of Operations Research, 4OR Springer, and Annals of Operations Research.
