Andrea Dossi is an Associate Professor at the Department of Accounting at Università Bocconi.
At SDA Bocconi he was Associate Dean for Faculty from January 2017 to November 2022, he directed the Executive Education Custom Programs Division from 2015 to 2016, and the Accounting, Control and Corporate Finance Department from 2004 to 2014. He was the Program Director of the course Finance for Executives and of CFO Agorà, a learning network of the most influential CFOs of Italian Corporations.
His research activities focus on management accounting, performance management and strategic control systems. His current research addresses three main questions. The first is the impact of the use of performance measurement systems on the effectiveness of international strategy execution. The second relates to the determinants of the CFO role and its impact on CFO compensation, organizational power and mechanisms adopted by the Finance Department. The third focuses on the role of management control systems in the change process.
He is the author of numerous books and articles on his topics of interest. His works have been published in the Journal of Accounting, Auditing and Finance, Management Accounting Research, Long Range Planning, the Asia and Pacific Journal of Accounting and Economics, among others. He has won numerous teaching and research awards, including the 2008 David Solomons Prize, Management Accounting Research.
He has directed programs for senior executives in various industries and in several continents. He has also conducted numerous research, education and consulting projects with leading multinational clients operating in the energy, food, manufacturing and pharmaceuticals industriesy. He is an expert speaker at international conferences. He serves on the advisory board of various companies. He is a member of the Planning & Control Committee, ANDAF (the Italian association of Finance Directors) and of the Scuola di Praticantato of the Ordine dei Dottori Commercialisti di Milano (the association of Public Accountants), of which he is a member (CPA). He is also a member of the European Accounting Association.
Andrea earned an MSc in Economics and Management from Università Bocconi and a Ph.D. in Management from the same university. He is married with six children.
