Research
Research is the driving force of SDA Bocconi School of Management
SDA Bocconi’s research stems from an ongoing dialogue with the real world and is fueled by the meeting of advanced, rigorous research methods and the concrete needs of companies and institutions. The Labs and Monitors are the dynamic environments in which research projects on specific topics are developed.
The Knowledge Platforms bring together Labs and Monitors that address strategic themes cutting across all organizations; the Ecosystems group those focused on specific sectors.
We believe research must act as a driver of transformation. Thanks to the support and active involvement of the organizations that are part of our Labs and Monitors, our research is translated into knowledge, models, and solutions that guide businesses, institutions, and society in addressing and shaping the future.
Knowledge Platforms and Ecosystems
SDA Bocconi’s Knowledge Platforms address strategic, cross-cutting issues that are relevant to businesses and institutions. Within them, models, tools, and approaches are developed to help interpret and manage the major changes now underway, from sustainability to technological transformation.
Ecosystems focus on particularly relevant sectors with the aim of tailoring, in specific ways, the knowledge developed at the cross-cutting level. Through collaboration with sector stakeholders, the ecosystems generate evidence, analyses, and solutions capable of responding to real needs, promoting the contextualized application of research.

Depending on organizations’ needs, customized research can combine cross-cutting expertise and draws on the knowledge assets of the entire School.

Competitive grants
Successful applied research is the result of solid fundamental research. SDA Bocconi researchers have been awarded numerous competitive grants funded by the European Commission and by other international and national bodies. Because competitive grants are awarded on the basis of the international scientific community’s assessment of the quality of the projects, they attest to the quality of the research conducted by SDA Bocconi School of Management.
