In late March 2025, the SDA Bocconi Master in Corporate Finance Candidates enjoyed a three-day study tour in Luxembourg, which offered firsthand exposure to the financial ecosystem of one of Europe’s leading financial centers. In this Study Tour, the MCFers learned from leading companies and institutions, and connected with industry professionals, gaining valuable insights into both career development and business culture across different sectors in this international hub.
The visit to the European Investment Bank comprised three sessions. The first focused on green bonds and the Bank’s role in financing sustainable projects across Europe. The second provided an in-depth look at EIB’s investment strategy and how it differs from traditional venture capital. The third session, led by the HR team, introduced the various career pathways available at EIB, along with guidance on how to approach applications and internships.
At the Luxembourg House of Financial Technology, the MCFers gained a deep understanding of the Luxembourg’s position as a financial hub - currently the second-largest fund center globally. The session highlighted the country’s strong international environment and outlined the characteristics of its job market. Later on, the MCFers took part in a networking dinner, where they met professionals working in Luxembourg, and gained practical insights into their experiences and career paths.
The The visit to PwC Luxembourg included a finance simulation in the form of a business game. MCFers developed two discounted cash flow models - one considering synergies and one without - to estimate the acquisition value of a company in a realistic M&A scenario. After the case, they had a networking lunch with young professionals from PwC.
Ferrero offered a presentation focused on the company’s values, history, and global brand presence. Then, the HR team provided practical advice on resume writing and interview preparation. They also held a live role-play to showcase effective and ineffective interview behavior. The visit comprised also a tour the internal museum, which included a collection of Ferrero’s well-known product lines and iconic brands.
The session at Amazon offered a detailed overview of the Finance department’s role within the company. The MCFers learned about the interview process, with examples of typical questions and strategies for preparation. The visit ended with a dinner along with Amazon professionals.
The Pictet Group organized a session centered on the firm’s values, heritage, and approach to global wealth management. The event was hosted at the MUDAM - Luxembourg’s Museum of Modern Art. Financial insight and cultural immersion combined made up to a memorable visit.
KPMG Luxembourg was the final stop, comprising a company presentation followed by a speed-networking session. Most of the professionals represented the Advisory division, who cast light on the different paths available within the firm. The format allowed for meaningful one-on-one exchanges.
