  • The initial research phase has started – applications are open until the end of September 2022
  • Lombardy, Veneto, Emilia-Romagna, Piedmont and Campania are the 5 regions with a higher percentage of participating companies
  • One of the most important changes to this edition of the SDA Bocconi awards is that last year’s major partners - PwC Italia and EQT, with the support of Bureau van Dijk and Havas PR - have been joined by two very prestigious organizations: Banca Mediolanum and Fondazione Umberto Veronesi

The sixth edition of the Best Performance Awards (BPAs) has begun. SDA Bocconi’s initiative partners again this year with PwC Italia and EQT supported by Bureau van Dijk, a Moody’s Analytics Company and Havas PR. In addition, BPA announces two new, high profile partners: Banca Mediolanum and Fondazione Umberto Veronesi.

Our Best Performance Awards aim to reward small, medium and large Italian companies that succeed in growing in size and creating economic, technological, human, social and environmental value, while operating in a respectful, reliable and therefore sustainable way.

The hot topic chosen by project partners for this edition - providing a special award in line with last year’s – was training and talents. It focuses on a business aspect that is now essential to target relevant but “harmonious” long-term growth: “WellFARE - Enterprises that generate social value and welfare.” Deliberately playing with the crasis between the English and Italian words, the topic’s aim is to reinterpret the term “welfare” and broaden its meaning: caring for the well-being of your company’s employees and its stakeholders in general means triggering a virtuous mechanism that has repercussions on society as a whole and not only on the individual.

The event has two phases. First, research, conducted by a dedicated team at SDA Bocconi, aims at identifying the Italian companies that excel in growing in size while pursuing strategies in harmony with ESG principles. Companies will be evaluated in five stages. At first, an economic and financial analysis will be conducted, followed by a study mapping more than 100 performance indicators. A qualitative assessment will then take place through an interview and a series of focus groups. Harmonious and respectful growth, social and environmental dynamics, technological innovation, and value creation are the founding values of our BPAs. Our goal is to identify and reward the best realities in our country, regardless of size and industry, so that they can be an example to imitate, a model driving our economic system towards responsible growth.

At the same time, the award represents an important opportunity for sharing high added-value content, in line with the inspiring principles and objectives of the BPAs. Alongside now common tools such as podcasts, interviews and social campaigns, this year we are getting even closer to our audience through radio interviews, which will address specific aspects of the hot topic. A live discussion on the pivotal theme of the award is also planned between partner companies and students, the workers of tomorrow, and a final award ceremony is to be held between late January and early February 2023. All these opportunities for sharing aim to spread the powerful values related to growth and sustainability to the business world and to society in general.

Five awards are planned: in addition to Best Performer of the Year, three awards will be given according to size category along with a special prize for the company that stands out in the hot topic of the year.

Registration is open for interested companies until September 30, 2022 at www.sdabocconi.it/bpa where all information and entry requirements (financial and dimensional) can also be found.
