Mattia Pianorsi is a Researcher in the Knowledge Area of Finance at SDA Bocconi School of Management. Since 2018, he has worked as Space Economy researcher at the Space Economy Evolution (SEE) Lab, where he studies the application of project financing to space infrastructure, venture capital financing for start-ups, and business model innovation. Mattia has worked on multiple applied research projects for public and private organizations within the space sector, addressing various topics. Currently, he is pursuing a Ph.D. in Management at the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland. Mattia's doctoral research focuses on business model innovation in the space sector.
At Università Bocconi, Mattia served as an academic tutor for CEMS projects related to space economics. Furthermore, he is a Teaching Assistant for Structured and Project Finance and Investment Banking courses. Mattia has co-authored three publications on infrastructure financing and a case study focusing on the listing of a private equity company, collaborating with the BAFFI research center. In addition, he has been research assistant for the Asian Development Bank on the topics on infrastructure financing.
Lastly, between 2021 and 2022, Mattia served as a Space Economy Expert at the Ministry of Technological Innovation and Digital Transformation (MITD). In this role, he supported Draghi's Government in allocating funds from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) for the space sector. He also participated in allocating financial resources for the 2022 Ministerial meeting of the European Space Agency and in facilitating government-business partnerships and agreements in the space sector.
Mattia Pianorsi obtained his master's degree in Management from Università Bocconi in 2014 and his bachelor's degree from the University of Florence in 2012. In 2015, he attended the Executive Management Program in Banking, and in 2017, he participated in the Teaching Excellence Program, both at the SDA Bocconi School of Management.
