SDA Bocconi’s mobiUS Lab hosted the first roundtable on the topic of “Future Mobility,” where more than twenty international top managers from leading mobility companies came together to discuss and define the mobility ecosystem of tomorrow.
mobiUS, SDA Bocconi’s Smart & Sustainable Mobility Lab focusing on mobility users, aims at producing and disseminating knowledge on new forms of smart and sustainable mobility in a global context.
The roundtable, which opened a series on the theme of future mobility, provided fertile ground for fostering exchange and knowledge generation, as explained by mobiUS Chairman Bram Schot, who chaired the event: “We invited executives who represent or have long professional experience in all the main areas of tomorrow’s mobility: electric mobility, shared mobility, autonomous driving, micromobility and last-mile mobility, public transport, airports, railways, smart cities, and energy transition. This diversity in terms of viewpoints enabled a valuable exchange, rich in insights and implications for fostering the transition from the mobility and logistics paradigm of today to that of tomorrow, which will necessarily feature smarter and more sustainable living and working.”
What is going to drive the mobile being in the future? Do we need driverless cars or rather carless drivers to make cities more sustainable? What are the implications of electrification and energy transition on companies’ business models set up? What is the real magnitude and actual potential of the vehicle sharing phenomenon? These are some of the main questions the participants sought to answer, drawing on their backgrounds and visions of the future.
Ugo Govigli, who is the investment director intelligent transport systems and a member of the Advisory Board at Atlantia, a founding partner of mobiUS Lab, explained how the event proved to be “a tangible and important opportunity to foster dialogue and collaboration between companies, aiming at an increasingly integrated and sustainable mobility.”
“In addition to producing a number of practical insights for business leaders, the roundtable also provided relevant research inputs for mobiUS, regarding the nature of the customer experience and the possible configurations of future mobility user journeys,” research lab’s scientific director Fabrizio Zerbini added. “The event is a great opportunity for us, and we will run it again, as it is in line with our role as a bridge between scientific research and the business world.”
