Research: SDA Bocconi fifth in Europe among Business Schools

ACCORDING TO RANKINGS BY THE NAVEEN JINDAL SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT TRACKING PUBLICATIONS IN 24 LEADING BUSINESS JOURNALS

SDA Bocconi School of Management is the fifth-best business school in the European Union for research quality, according to The UTD Top 100 Business School Research Rankings, provided and published yesterday by the UTD’ Naveen Jindal School of Management. Among European but non-EU business schools, London Business School alone is ahead of SDA Bocconi.
 
“The UTD Naveen Jindal School of Management has created a database to track publications in 24 leading business journals. The database contains titles and author affiliations of papers published in these journals since 1990. The information in the database is used to provide the top 100 business school rankings since 1990 based on the total contributions of faculty,” reads a note.
 
The rankings released yesterday cover the period 2017-2021.
 
“Not everyone connects business schools to research,” says SDA Bocconi Dean, Giuseppe Soda, “but in fact, discoveries and innovations coming from research nurture the teaching geared toward managers and entrepreneurs. To rank among the best European business schools in the production of scientific research is a source of great pride.”
 
The methodology involves awarding one point for each publication. In case of a single author, their business school gets one point, in case of two authors half a point and so on. If an author claims more than one affiliation, their score is divided equally among the different business schools.

In rankings dominated by American business schools, the top European business school (INSEAD) is 12th.

The journals tracked to provide the rankings are: The Accounting Review; Journal of Accounting and Economics; Journal of Accounting Research; Journal of Finance; Journal of Financial Economics; The Review of Financial Studies; Information Systems Research; Journal on Computing; MIS Quarterly; Journal of Consumer Research; Journal of Marketing; Journal of Marketing Research; Marketing Science; Management Science; Operations Research; Journal of Operations Management; Manufacturing and Service Operations Management; Production and Operations Management; Academy of Management Journal; Academy of Management Review; Administrative Science Quarterly; Organization Science; Journal of International Business Studies; Strategic Management Journal.
