Every athlete wants to reach the top. And now, for a record eighth time, our flagship CIES International Master in Management, Law and Humanities of Sport (FIFA Master) has been named the best Postgraduate Sports Management course in Europe, reaching third place globally.

Ranked no.1 by the latest rankings published by SportBusiness, the top placement reveals high scores across a wide range of assessment criteria - including alumni career trajectories, student satisfaction and perception, course intake diversity, analysis of networking opportunities and wider university partnerships.

It also reflects the FIFA Masters’ continuing excellence in equipping candidates with the very best skills and knowledge to make an immediate impact upon entering the world of international sports. Delivered through a partnership between SDA Bocconi School of Management – Management Module, De Montfort University (United Kingdom) – Humanities Module, and the University of Neuchâtel (Switzerland) – Law Module, the FIFA Masters offers a unique blend of skills unmatched by any other program in Europe. Course alumni are now working in senior positions for some of the biggest organisations in global sport such as FIFA, IOC, UEFA, AFC, CAF, F1 and various leading sporting NGO organisations.

In summary of this achievement, Dino Ruta explains that “the FIFA Master’s success is based on an international vision of the sport business with students coming from more than 20 countries all over the world. It leverages on the solid integration of academic and applied knowledge, world-class faculty and guest speakers from the main international sport organizations, who teach innovative managerial practices and analyze key decisions from this complex, yet appealing industry”.

This approach is reflected in the SDA Bocconi Sport Knowledge Center, led by Dino Ruta, whose fast growth is thanks to its ongoing network of partnerships, not only with CIES /FIFA but also with other key international organizations such as the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy Qatar 2022 and the National Basketball Players Association.

Like all success in the world of sport, the FIFA Masters’ achievement comes as a result of dedication, hard work, and strong support. As CIES General Secretary Vincent Schatzmann explained, ‘I am delighted the 2020 rankings continue to recognise the FIFA Master as one of the leading courses in the world today. This latest ranking success acknowledges the hard work of everybody at CIES and also our friends and colleagues at the course academic partner institutions. Further still, it is recognition of our course graduates and the work they do around the world across all sports.’

The message is clear: if you really want to work in sport, the FIFA Masters offers consistent excellence across Management, Law and Humanities of Sport, helping you to achieve your goals and fly high in whichever field of sport you choose.

Congratulations to the students, staff, and alumni who’ve made the FIFA Masters such a success. Here’s to winning another top accolade next year.
