The last month of the MAMA, Master in Arts Management and Administration classes has arrived and with it a series of unique meetings with arts managers and professionals involved in the performing arts and heritage management field.
On May 3rd, 2019 the class met Massimo Osanna, former Director of the Archaelogical Site of Pompei. Mr. Osanna discussed the challenges and peculiarities of managing a complex and extended site like that of Pompei, meeting the research objectives of the institutions with the needs and wants of the many visitors that every year come to the site.
Pompei represents an unicum in terms of artistic and historical value and is challenged everyday in terms of sustainability and accessibility. Students had could hear and learn from the direct experience of Mr. Osanna the critical role of arts managers in ensuring a positive and fruitful balance between the institutional objectives of an arts institution: research, conservation and promotion.
