Mara Pascquamaria Squicciarini is Associate Professor of Economics at Università Bocconi and a research affiliate at the CEPR (Centre for Economic Policy Research), IGIER (Innocenzo Gasparini Institute for Economic Research), and CESifo (Center for Economic Studies and Ifo Institute for Economic Research).
Her research interests are in Economic History and Economic Growth, with a focus on the role of religion, culture, and human capital for industrialization and economic progress. Her research has appeared in journals such as the American Economic Review, the Quarterly Journal of Economics and Science. She also co-edited the book the “Economics of Chocolate” (Oxford University Press).
She got a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Leuven and was a Postdoctoral Researcher at Northwestern University and a Visiting Scholar at Harvard, Stanford, and UCLA.
