Establishing Citizen Science Hubs in European Research Performing and Funding Organisations to drive institutional change and ground Responsible Research and Innovation in society (INCENTIVE)
The EU project INCENTIVE is a pioneering initiative aimed at harnessing citizen science's potential to transform the research landscape in four European universities.
The primary objective of the project is to accelerate the transition of these universities towards more inclusive, open, and democratic innovation and scientific governance, guided by the principles of Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI). In the face of global challenges such as climate change, resource depletion, and ecological destruction, the project addresses the critical challenge faced by Research Performing and Funding Organisations (RPFOs) in Europe.
This challenge involves promoting scientific excellence while ensuring that science and innovation are inclusive and beneficial to society. Through the paradigm of Citizen Science, INCENTIVE facilitates a democratic and collaborative approach to designing, implementing, and monitoring scientific progress and technological growth.By establishing Citizen Science Hubs in the partner universities, INCENTIVE aims to create a lasting impact and provide a blueprint for European and international research institutes.
