Our world has changed radically and rapidly over the last five years. After a few decades of macro stability, during which globalization, generally favorable economic circumstances (including the availability of inexpensive capital), and relative peace in most of the developed world enabled a business focus on prosperous growth and efficiency, we have entered a much more volatile era. The first significant European war in 75 years, rising tensions in Asia, and a deteriorating situation in the Middle East are destabilizing in many ways and have negatively impacted global supply chains. Increasingly volatile weather has done the same.
This roundtable will focus on our corporate operating models, examining both the strategic approach/operating models and the resulting operational execution/systems, as well as our approach to risk. We will explore how we are adapting our operating models in response to our rapidly changing world and identify the key factors driving these changes for each of our companies. We will discuss new principles that should guide our approaches and how to put them into practice in our operating systems.
