José is Corning’s chief information security officer (CISO), based in Charlotte, North Carolina. He joined Corning from Bechtel, where he was also the global CISO, responsible for information security and data protection on a global scale and leading a team of 50+ Information Technology (IT) security professionals.
Prior to joining Bechtel, José spent nearly 20 years with Fluor Corporation as an executive and Fluor Fellow based in Irving, Texas. He implemented and maintained all aspects of information security for the firm’s 41,000 employees as well as facilities and project sites in more than 66 countries.
José earned a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering from Pennsylvania State University in State College, Pennsylvania. He has also earned the designation of Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
In addition to his Bechtel role, José is active in numerous local and international industry groups, including Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Information Systems Security Association, International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium, ISACA (formerly the Information Systems Audit and Control Association), and InfraGard, a partnership between the FBI and the private sector. He also supports Bechtel’s role in the National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering.
